Hello! I am Michelle Kristofik, known by Adelante students as Coach Michelle. I recently graduated from Regis University where I majored in Peace & Social Justice and Fine Arts. Many wonder how a major like that has led me to Playworks, and here's how: I developed my majors to focus on how creativity helps students overcome injustices that they face within their school systems--and there's nothing like the power of play that helps develop fast-thinking and creative action in youth!

Even though I'm a recent graduate, I've had lots of opportunities working with kids. A few of these include: coaching swim team in New York, teaching Conflict Management classes at homeless shelters and assisting in Restorative Justice programs with junior high students in Colorado, volunteering with children in Tanzania, and most recently working at Camp Galileo in Woodside, California. I'm really looking forward to getting to know all the Adelante students throughout the year!

By running structured recesses, class game times, sports leagues, the Junior Coach Program, and the Playworks After School Program, I hope to assist in making the Adelante community as inclusive and respectful as possible!
